Why are japanese cars generally more reliable than american cars?

Posted on May 23rd, 2010 by admin

some of the parts in these "american cars" come from japan…sooo why is japanese usually more reliable??? is it engine or something?

Depends on a lot of things not the least of which is care.

My 2000 Taurus has 169K miles on it and is still pretty reliable.

That being said there are a number of Japanese cars built in America and the reliability hasn’t dipped. So much for the Japanese worker excuse.

I think it’s better engineering overall.

what makes japanese cars stand out against the others?

Posted on May 16th, 2010 by admin

what are the differences between the japanese cars and the european, american, chinese and Korean cars? what are the strengths and weaknesses of the japanese cars?

Japanese brand autos have been well-documented for their quality and reliability. Those are some of the strength, strength which propelled makers such as Toyota and Honda claiming a good stake in the US market, specifically.

That said, the recent quality issues have stirred a brewing of discussions, especially within the automotive community. Keying around similar questions such as are the Japanese becoming too large too fast? And to be fair, on the other side of the coin, the rest of the league, Hyundai/Kia and GM, especially, are really picking up the pace. Perceptions are hard to change overnight, however, and unfortunate.

How Come Used Japanese Cars Are So Popular At Auctions & Dealerships?

Posted on May 13th, 2010 by admin

I came across some pretty fantastic cars at Japanese auctions but sadly they were out of stock. BTW, how do you find out the quality of cars at used car auctions?

Japanese cars are world famous for their quality and testing standards. Add to this the good roads in Japan, the ‘drifting’ culture, and the fact that the Japanese are fanatic about keeping their cars in top shape, and you’ve got a used car market that’s a buyer’s goldmine.

If you’re buying Japanese cars off the used car market, make a note of the Grade that indicates the health of the car. Grade 5 indicates the car is almost brand new while Grade 2 indicates an unsuitable car. Some of the best deals can be found at Grade 3.5 and above.

What is the difference between American and Japanese cars?

Posted on May 11th, 2010 by admin

What makes their performance and quality so different? Why are Japanese cars considered more reliable?

I think the issue another issue (performance). This isnt my personal opinion, but one i often come across in talks and on the net is.
In most countries Petrol is so expensive and insurance and taxes all go against having a large engined car.
The Japanese engines is the power they can produce at a low cc.You often get my Muscle car can beat your Import well yes it prob can,as its usually about 3 of the import engines, but if the import engine was muscle car big it would be super fast.So this leads to the Japanese engine producing alot of power for its size and being tuneable and hence cheaper on petrol, insurance and taxes. And making it popular.

How can someone say Japanese cars are good when in fact their tech is Western?

Posted on May 8th, 2010 by admin

Ever heard of calculus, linear algebra, physics, engineering, computers, etc? Those are all invented in the West and used in Japanese cars. SO, it must be said that Japanese cars are not Japanese at all, since their technology come from the West?

are you pissed your Pontiac died on you?

Is there a big disadvantage to importing Japanese cars to the UK to make up for the lower cost?

Posted on May 7th, 2010 by admin

Well, I’ve been thinking about buying a Japanese sports car, but in searching online for different ones I keep on getting links to websites that specialise in importing (2nd hand) Japanese cars to the UK. In some cases, the cost is around 30-40% cheaper than an equivalent car in Britain.

Also, the Japanese seem to take better car of their cars in general as the condition of the vehicle has a bigger impact on the resale value in Japan.

So what is the disadvantage?
I’m thinking about getting a Nissan 350z (Fairlady in Japan).

Make sure that the car will be able to pass any pollution tests you may have in the UK. Or see if you can get an exemption.
Research any taxes, tariffs or extra unseen fees associated with registering the car there.
Research the company you are thinking of doing business with.
Find out the differences between the UK models and those for registration in Japan. Can you read the owner’s manual, etc.
If it is a UK firm doing it, why don’t they just import the cars and make the profit themselves?
If it is a Japanese firm, how can you safeguard yourself should any litigation arise from the transaction?
Just a few thoughts, hope they help.
