Ryokan Dinner: 9 Course Traditional Japanese Meal

Posted on May 23rd, 2010 by admin

A ryokan is a traditional Japanese bed-and-breakfast, where a nakai serves breakfast and kaiseki (incredible, multi-course Japanese dinners). The one we stayed at was in Kawaguchiko, at the base of Mount Fuji. Each room included a private deck with a *very hot* onsen (hot tub). This was our second dinner.

What is the best Ryokan in Kyoto?

Posted on May 23rd, 2010 by admin

Hello, I’ll be heading to Kyoto with 3 friends in May and the 4 of us are very interested in staying at a Ryokan. What would be a good Ryokan to stay in for 1-2 nights that is nice, traditional, reasonably priced, and can accommodated 4 guys. Thanks!

There is a lot of Ryokans in Kyoto. You can choose by yourself on the below site.

Our family of 5 are planning to be in Tokyo in Dec. Any recommendation of affordable hotel or ryokan to stay?

Posted on May 16th, 2010 by admin

Two bedroom apartment or larger room that can accomodate all 5 in one room.

It depends on your budget and how is the quality about affordable itself.

If you’d like to save money try Asakusa, Ueno, Kita-Senjyu, Kinshi-Cho district, not Ginza, Shibuya, Roppongi and/or Shinjuku district.

There are tons of trifty hotel/ryokan for travelers over there.

If you wanna try to have some traditional experience rather than economy, how about this for example.

If you rather prefer economy price, here are some candidates too.

Any recommendations for a Ryokan in Kyoto?

Posted on May 13th, 2010 by admin

I am planning on staying in Kyoto (October) and am interested in staying in a Ryokan. I’d like to keep costs low yet be in a good quality place….any recommendations?

I stayed in Yuhara ryokan, which is an old-fashioned inn run for forty years by mother and son. A good experience, but the mother is very strict and you cannot stay in your room during the day.
Many times I stayed at White Hotel; a Japanese style hotel very conveniently located near Kyoto Station. Value for money.

What is a good and cheap ryokan (traditional hotel) to stay in while in Japan?

Posted on May 11th, 2010 by admin

I would like to experience traditional Japanese lifestyle by staying in a traditional inn (ryokan) in Japan which has things like outdoor baths and public baths and futons and things like that.
Any suggestions?

Hi. If you visit Tokyo, I recommend you to stay "Ryokan Sawanoya".
The inn is popular with people from other countries.

How do I book Japan hotel / ryokan during New Year period?

Posted on May 8th, 2010 by admin

Almost all of the hotel/ryokan has no rooms from Dec 30 – Jan 3, but available otherwise. Are those dates blocked because they don’t operate or it’s going to be available later on?

I don’t know where you concluded "no rooms" for that period. But there are some reasons.

That New Year period is extreme peak period for Japanese hotels and ryokans as there are so many people traveling during that time.

So one reason is that those hotels and ryokans are already all booked.

Another reason is that it’s just too early to book it during that period. If you are talking about New Year of 2010, it’s more than 5 months away.

>because they don’t operate

This is impossible.

Staying in a Ryokan

Posted on May 7th, 2010 by admin

Ryokans are traditional Japanese inns, and what makes them different from hotels is their emphasis on a distinctively Japanese atmosphere and decor, as well as the superb service and the wonderful meals that usually come with your room.????????????
