Is it weird to be a Nascar fan but drive a Japanese car?
Posted on May 26th, 2010 by admin
So I saw a Toyota pick up with a number 9 on it. Looked all redneck and all, but it was a Japanese car. It was almost all out redneck except that it was all decorated on a Japanese car. So that looked weird to me.
dodge is made here.
A few possible senarios could happen here.
1) You were in Califnornia, and it was a "wanna be" redneck.
2) The "cowboy" in question cares about the enviornment
3) This particular "cowboy" has accepted Toyota’s dominance in the Truck series, but not yet in the Cup series and likes Kasey Khane.
4) You are trying to make this issue much bigger than it really is.

No. Imagine trying to drive one those Nascar’s in public. Stick with your current car. Besides, I know a Japanese guy that drives a huge Ford pickup with Japanese writing across the back windows.

No, my grandpa is a Matt Kenseth fan but his favorite Manufacture is Chevy nothing wrong there. Like lets say your favorite driver was Jeff Gordon and he drives a Chevy right, that doesn’t mean that you have to drive the same manufacture as he does, I sometimes see Ford pickups with an 8 and a 3 on them.

I am a Nascar fan!
I have no loyalty to any brand.
I own two Fords and a Nissan.
I have no idea where any of the brands are built let alone where the parts they are built from were manufactured.
I don’t feel weird about it, but I do blame NAFTA for the lose of a lot of jobs in the car manufacturing sector!!!

Not really. I prefer GM if I am buying a car but I’ll buy whats best for what I want even if its some other company.
Marcos – There are plenty of Big 3 cars and trucks made in the US. Try doing some research before you bring up something like that. The Japanese might assemble the car here but the parts are made in Japan and the profits go back to Japan.

Oh! Well! What is weird to some does not bother me. You see, I raced at Irwindale in my 20’s and have a ‘90 Nissan with one of the best stock engines made
that does let me take on anything that revs next to me and "Shut ‘em Dowwnnn!" It’s all in the driver.
I love Nascar but, I’m dare devil enough!

Last I checked you go with what you got. If all you can afford is a Toyota and you want to show some love to Kasey Kahne then who am I to give you crap. I’m a huge Roush Racing fan but you will never see me in a Ford Fusion…It is a car for YUPPIES. The only two cars that have any business being near a race track are the Dodge Charger or the Chevy Monte but, hey put them next to the custom built numbers turned out by todays racing shops and forget about it.
Bottom Line worry about yourself and not about what someone else is doing.

Marcos…take a economics class.
The money for Toyota still goes to Toyota in Japan, the money from the American Companies, goes to America…it is real basic, Driving a toyota does not support this country, only jobs, it is not more American to do either to be honest, you want American…buy some cheese.

Does not bother me. They are made in America by Americans. Chevy has moved most of their operations to Mexico and Canada. Plus in the long run Re-sale is better with the Toyota and it will most likely be on the road a lot longer. So where would you wanna put your money. Sounds to me like that "Redneck" is pretty smart.

And as for the money coming back to America by Ford and Chevy. Have you seen it? The only ones to see that money is corporate CEO’s. So thanks I’ll buy Nissan or Toyota at least I’m supporting the American worker like me.

I’m a union plumber and my national union tells us what brands are made at least partialy in the USA. Toyota trucks are ok but only Camrys are for cars. Nissan is a no-no. Honestly though foreign cars are showing more dependable that domestic.

It’s no worse than a Harley rider criticizing a Japanese bike rider, then loading his Harley into a Toyota or Nissan truck

it doesn’t bother me, my darn honda civic has a #8 on it, but as soon as the new Camaro’s come out in 2009 and I get rid of the civic it and get the camaro I will definitely put the 88 on it..

I don’t think it is wierd at all. My vehicle has nothing to do with the driver that I root for.

You don’t have to be a redneck to be a NASCAR fan.
I’ve got 20 plastered on my car, and I drive a Mitsubishi.
And not to mention Toyota is now racing in NASCAR anyway.

Not at all! I have been an Earnhardt fan since 1990 and my first vehicle was a Toyota Tacoma! And LOVED it!!! Now I drive a VW TDI just because it is diesel! It is all about the gas mileage!!! But I would NEVER root against a Chevy when it comes to NASCAR!!!!

It’s weird if you don’t know what it’s like to be in a fast car and you own a Japanese car. Try driving a 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T with a 440 magnum or a 1970 Roadrunner, or even a 1969 Firebird. That’s what I did before I drove a Japanese car. I’m a NASCAR fan, but I know what a fast car is so there’s no doubt in my mind. It’s not weird that a NASCAR fan drives a Japanese car, it’s just sad that he can’t feel the tradition of automotive history. The power of American cars. The progression that lead to the ultimate stock car race. You can actually feel it.

Um no. It means he wants a quality vehicle that will last for a while. I drive a Mazda 3, but root for Stewart.

Sh*t, I’m a NASCAR fan but drive a Korean car(Kia Optima) and yes I do have a 3, and a 20 sticker on it(gonna eventually have an 88, 1, and 24 on it also). Nothing against American cars, Kia was the only one who would take our Sable as a trade-in. BTW I drove a Ford Taurus for years, still had an 3,8,20, and 1 sticker on it.

What possible difference could it make to anyone? You should be able to support and celebrate your driver however you choose.
