if you look around you most foreign cars are german and japanese. americans buy these foreign cars more than british swedish and korean is this a result of ww2 or ha ha a different version a economic version of germany and japan trying to take over the world again.

its quality control really, American cars are good. GM got car of the year last year but the CEO was booted by Obama, its sad but there is a stigma against American car companies, the past 15 years the equality in quality has been equal

People buy foreign cars because they are made better than american cars, last longer, have better resale value. The japanese had a dedication to quality that seems to be lacking in the american work force. Korean cars are coming up fast in quality and Consumer Reports is beginning to recommend them. It has nothing to do with WWII. In the steel industry, however, the situation is different. We destroyed their industrial infrastructure during WWII and the Japanese were willing to try Basic Oxygen Furnace processes. We, on the other hand, rebuilt outdated open hearth furnaces. That gave them a significant advantage and they could sell their steel in this country cheaper than our local steel.

Note: Most German cars are made by Gast Arbeiters (Guest workers) from Turkey, Poland, Spain, and Italians. There hasn’t been any Germans on the assembly lines in years.

they make great cars and the prices are great.

    i have had a toyota truck, sold it at 100,00 miles/10 years and it’s still going (it’s a 94).

then got a bmw x5, then an x3.

just got rid of that and got a jetta, my hubby has had one bmw z4 and now a nissan.

i have never had any problems with any of the cars, but my friends with americans cars have had mass problems.

    it’s the engineering.

Neither, American cars have a stigma of being crap, that explains how my parents got 300,000+ miles out of an 87 Ford Aerostar and almost 200,000 out of a Dodge Neon. On the other hand my father owned a Subaru at one point that he gave up on because he got tired of replacing CV joints. BTW g-yen, your X3 and X5 are both built in the US, and if your Z4’s a roadster before 2008, it was built here too.
