Advocacy Journalism

Advocacy journalism may not have been invented by Newsweek magazine but they were certainly one of the first to use it in a world where most readers were not used to it and perhaps did not comprehend the meaning of it. The huge circulation of Newsweek meant that advocacy journalism became fairly accepted within the daily media as a form of reporting. One of the stories that Newsweek is more known for in terms of advocacy journalism occurred during the Vietnam War. The magazine boldly stated that the war was not necessary and that the American forces should pull out.
