The environment and the economy of the surround areas where the oil spills occurs prove detrimental to it but this has not stopped the occurrence of such spills. It is very unfortunate that the damage continues long after, sometimes even for decades but our interest in the entire thing lasts only till pictures of the devastation are relayed on prime news channels. The Gulf spill and the havoc it is causing can be judged by the fact that BP has been spending millions of dollars each day to plug the spill but the lack of results has ensured that the US government is clearly unimpressed with the efforts made and it believes that not adequate measures have been taken, which could have controlled the impact and limited the damage.
